We're all familiar with the story of the boy who cried wolf, the cautionary tale about habitual lying. Since I'm sure all of us learned this lesson when we were children, I'm confused why so many Americans seem to have forgotten it when it comes to politicians and other government actors.
How can you tell when a politician is lying? Most of you probably answered something like, "their lips are moving!" What is the cost of this constant lying to the American people? People talk about the loss of trust in "American Institutions" from the courts to the military, from Congress to the bureaucrats. Yet it seems few have bothered to count the cost of this constant dependence on lies.
One of my more frequent sayings is "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me 10,000 times and I'm probably an American voter!" The American people have been lied to so blatantly and for so long, yet there are those that still expect us to believe them. What disturbs me more than the expectation of belief, is how often the people fall for it. It seems like government actors are Lucy to Charlie Brown of the American people. Apparently, we never learn that they will yank the truth away from us every time. - Live 4PM ET with Host Paul Engel @CyberEngelLIVE http://rdo.to/TALKLOUD

Who is in charge of your children? That has been a perennial question that has grown in importance over the last few years. When I was a child, it was understood that, with rare exceptions, parents were in charge of a child’s upbringing. This included medical, religious, and educational decisions. However, over the last few decades, the role of the parent in these decisions has been replaced by experts. What happens when the goal of the experts differs from those of the parents? Who decides the future of the rising generations? It was understood that the state acted in loco parentis, in place of the parents, only for the safety of the child. A recent case in U.S. District Court shows that be it health departments, child services, schools, or even the courts. Government not only believes they know better than the parents, they are more than willing to act in loco parentis tyrannis.

With the release of ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence (AI) applications, there has been a lot of speculation and downright assertions about our future. With over 30 years of experience in Information Technology (IT), not more than a passing understanding of AIs, I've come to the conclusion that much of what I've heard is more science fiction than fact. A recent court case decided in the D.C. District Court revolved around one very important question. Do AIs have rights?
In this third installment of the three-part series on the branches of government, we look at the role of the third and weakest branch. At least that is what our Founding Fathers thought of it. What is the role of the federal judiciary? What are the extent of their powers, how do they related to the other two branches of government, and why is a proper understanding of the role of the judiciary critical if the United States is to remain a constitutional republic?

They weren’t presidential or even a mid-term elections earlier this week, but there is still a lot we can learn from them. - Live 4PM ET with Host Paul Engel @CyberEngel @OutLoudNews

There are plenty of things we hear in life we wish we could silence. However, if we truly believe in freedom of speech, the answer is almost always more speech, not less. - Live 4PM ET with Host Paul Engel @CyberEngel @OutLoudNews

You’ve heard the saying, “Payback is a…”, Well you know what I mean. I’m guessing that one of the reasons why so many people fought so hard to defeat Trump in 2024 was the fear of payback for what was done to him in his first term in office. I guess you could say this is a case of Arctic Frost Bite! - Live 4PM ET with Host Paul Engel @CyberEngel @OutLoudNews
