In a recent Siena College/New York Times poll, 74% of “likely voters” believe that “democracy is currently under threat,” and 83% believe the threat is corporate media. While America is a republic, not a democracy, what does this poll seem to indicate? It looks like four out of every five likely voters think corporate media is a threat to our way of life. Yet how many of them are still getting their news from these sources?
The reaction of the Times’ chief political analyst gives some credence to these opinions. In his write-up on the poll, he said that he and his colleagues focus on the “undemocratic elements of American elected government like the Electoral College, gerrymandering and the Senate.” This not only shows that the CHIEF POLITICAL ANALYST for the New York Times not only doesn’t realize America is not a democracy, but he also doesn’t even understand the government the Constitution created.
Based on that alone, I would say the New York Times is a threat to the republic. How many other journalists and news outlets are attacking the very tools our Founding Fathers gave us to protect our rights?
We all know the joke, “How can you tell when a politician is lying?” Maybe we need to update it to… “How can you tell when corporate media is lying? When their lips are moving, or their hands are typing.”

Who is in charge of your children? That has been a perennial question that has grown in importance over the last few years. When I was a child, it was understood that, with rare exceptions, parents were in charge of a child’s upbringing. This included medical, religious, and educational decisions. However, over the last few decades, the role of the parent in these decisions has been replaced by experts. What happens when the goal of the experts differs from those of the parents? Who decides the future of the rising generations? It was understood that the state acted in loco parentis, in place of the parents, only for the safety of the child. A recent case in U.S. District Court shows that be it health departments, child services, schools, or even the courts. Government not only believes they know better than the parents, they are more than willing to act in loco parentis tyrannis.

Just when you think DOGE has gotten to the bottom of the barrel, they find more barrel. The United States is supposed to be a nation of laws, not of men. However, over the decades, the laws of this nation have been taken over not only by bureaucrats and politicians, but by judges. Judges who, by the way, almost always place the opinions of other judges above the supreme law of the land.
