After the mid-term elections it is quite clear that many in governments at all levels have gotten the message. The American people will put up with just about anything, at least in certain locations. With this confirmation that they will not be held accountable for anything they do, we see not the political class, but the pundit and media classes as well flooring the throttle and heading American full speed over the cliff of tyranny. In my mind, there are two ways we can see this situation. First, things just aren't bad enough. Maybe there aren't enough of us who lived through Jimmy Carter and David Dinkins (mayor of New York City) to see the pain we have in store for us. The other possibility is that a significant percentage of the American people like being ruled. Why deal with all of that message responsibility stuff when those in government promise to take care of you from cradle to grave. And of course, they always have "experts", and who cares how often these so-called experts have screwed things up in the past. Either way, is seems quite obvious that the American people are not ready to return to freedom and liberty. Who is in charge of your children? That has been a perennial question that has grown in importance over the last few years. When I was a child, it was understood that, with rare exceptions, parents were in charge of a child’s upbringing. This included medical, religious, and educational decisions. However, over the last few decades, the role of the parent in these decisions has been replaced by experts. What happens when the goal of the experts differs from those of the parents? Who decides the future of the rising generations? It was understood that the state acted in loco parentis, in place of the parents, only for the safety of the child. A recent case in U.S. District Court shows that be it health departments, child services, schools, or even the courts. Government not only believes they know better than the parents, they are more than willing to act in loco parentis tyrannis.
