The Constitution Study
Politics • Education
I started The Constitution Study to help others learn to read and study their Constitution, so they may better know and understand their rights. It is where people can gather online to study together, discuss events, and help each other work to return our nation to the Constitutional Republic is was meant to be.

Damn the Constitution! Full Speed Ahead!

After the midterm elections, it is quite clear that many in government at all levels have gotten the message. The American people will put up with just about anything, at least in certain locations. With this confirmation that they will not be held accountable for anything they do, we see not the political class, but the pundit and media classes as well, flooring the throttle and heading America full speed over the cliff of tyranny.
In my mind, there are two ways we can see this situation. First, things just aren’t bad enough. Maybe there aren’t enough of us who lived through Jimmy Carter and David Dinkins (mayor of New York City) to see the pain we have in store for us. The other possibility is that a significant percentage of the American people like being ruled.
Why deal with all of that message responsibility stuff when those in government promise to take care of you from cradle to grave? And, of course, they always have “experts,” and who cares how often these so-called experts have screwed things up in the past. Either way, it seems quite evident that the American people are not ready to return to freedom and liberty. We can only hope that changes in the near future.

In Loco Parentis, Tyrannis!

Who is in charge of your children? That has been a perennial question that has grown in importance over the last few years. When I was a child, it was understood that, with rare exceptions, parents were in charge of a child’s upbringing. This included medical, religious, and educational decisions. However, over the last few decades, the role of the parent in these decisions has been replaced by experts. What happens when the goal of the experts differs from those of the parents? Who decides the future of the rising generations? It was understood that the state acted in loco parentis, in place of the parents, only for the safety of the child. A recent case in U.S. District Court shows that be it health departments, child services, schools, or even the courts. Government not only believes they know better than the parents, they are more than willing to act in loco parentis tyrannis.

385 - Do Artificial Intelligences Have Rights?

With the release of ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence (AI) applications, there has been a lot of speculation and downright assertions about our future. With over 30 years of experience in Information Technology (IT), not more than a passing understanding of AIs, I've come to the conclusion that much of what I've heard is more science fiction than fact. A recent court case decided in the D.C. District Court revolved around one very important question. Do AIs have rights?

The Role of the Federal Courts

In this third installment of the three-part series on the branches of government, we look at the role of the third and weakest branch. At least that is what our Founding Fathers thought of it. What is the role of the federal judiciary? What are the extent of their powers, how do they related to the other two branches of government, and why is a proper understanding of the role of the judiciary critical if the United States is to remain a constitutional republic?

Colorado Conversion Therapy Oral Arguments

Who decides what treatment is best for your child? Most people expect the government to protect children from dangerous treatments, even if their parents want it. But shouldn't the government need to prove harm beyond a reasonable doubt before criminalizing treatment? Sadly, that is not the question before the court in the case Chiles v. Salazar. Rather, it is a twisted attempt to use the First Amendment to strike down this Colorado law.

When truth turns into a lie

You’re probably familiar with the quote “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” Many people may disagree about what the truth is, but what happens when society turns the truth into a lie? - Live 4PM ET with Host Paul Engel @CyberEngel @OutLoudNews

The true cost of government

We all experience the cost of government. Sometimes it’s more obvious, like on tax day or when you look at the sales tax line in a receipt. Other times the costs of government are hidden, like the taxes you pay on gasoline or the added cost of products due to regulations. Today, I want to take a look at some less obvious costs we all pay for our governments. - Live 4PM ET with Host Paul Engel @CyberEngel @OutLoudNews
