Last year, while out on my Blessings of Liberty Tour, I listened to the audio book version of Alexandr Solzhenitsyn’s Gulag Archipelago. This huge account of Solzhenitsyn’s experience gives an insight into not only the labor camp system, but the soviet system as a whole.
With recent reports of the “public school” indoctrination of our children, the intentional separation of the children from the parents, and the government attacks on parents who object, it’s hard to not refer to the current education system as indoctrination system. But as more and more comes to light about the narcissistic, perverted, racist, and stating agenda children are being indoctrinated into, one term keeps coming to mind. Who is in charge of your children? That has been a perennial question that has grown in importance over the last few years. When I was a child, it was understood that, with rare exceptions, parents were in charge of a child’s upbringing. This included medical, religious, and educational decisions. However, over the last few decades, the role of the parent in these decisions has been replaced by experts. What happens when the goal of the experts differs from those of the parents? Who decides the future of the rising generations? It was understood that the state acted in loco parentis, in place of the parents, only for the safety of the child. A recent case in U.S. District Court shows that be it health departments, child services, schools, or even the courts. Government not only believes they know better than the parents, they are more than willing to act in loco parentis tyrannis.

One of the most paramount rights any human being has is the freedom to express themselves. Whether it be by speech, text, or display, as Benjamin Franklin said, there can be “no such Thing as publick Liberty, without Freedom of Speech”.
