A Tennessee street preacher is challenging an Oklahoma court order threatening him with arrest and potential prison time if, over the next five years, he posts Bible verses condemning homosexuality on social media.
Rich Penkoski is the leader of Warriors for Christ, an organization of street preachers that, among other things, attempts to combat the LGBTQ agenda. Its home page, for example, displays a map of the United States indicating “all establishments that have had events that target children for grooming.” One of those establishments is, of all things, a church in Oklahoma, and taking note of it is what has Penkoski in hot water.
Who is in charge of your children? That has been a perennial question that has grown in importance over the last few years. When I was a child, it was understood that, with rare exceptions, parents were in charge of a child’s upbringing. This included medical, religious, and educational decisions. However, over the last few decades, the role of the parent in these decisions has been replaced by experts. What happens when the goal of the experts differs from those of the parents? Who decides the future of the rising generations? It was understood that the state acted in loco parentis, in place of the parents, only for the safety of the child. A recent case in U.S. District Court shows that be it health departments, child services, schools, or even the courts. Government not only believes they know better than the parents, they are more than willing to act in loco parentis tyrannis.

I’m seeing more and more people claiming that the sea of changes we’ve seen lately are a response to the upcoming Donald Trump presidency. While some of that seems obvious, I believe a lot of what we're seeing is not so much a turn toward Trump and MAGA, but a turning away from Biden and woke. For four years the democrats have called anyone who questioned the 2020 presidential election an “election denier” and those who protested “insurrectionists”. So here in 2024, with the substantial win by Donald Trump, we can expect those same democrats to accept their loss and live with the consequences, right? One thing I was taught as a child was to be a good loser. Truth is, we’re not always going to win, and how you lose says a lot about your character. But we’ve spent decades “protecting” our children from losing, and what is the outcome of this overprotectiveness? Generations of Americans that don’t know how to lose gracefully.
Some of you may be thinking of January 6th, 2021, and to some extent you’d be correct. While there was nothing wrong with demonstrating your belief that the election was stolen, but some went to far, either on their own or with instigation doesn’t matter, adults should know better than to attempt to get their way by initiating violence. That said, there are plenty of examples of sore losers on both sides.
