Noah Webster defined a “republic” in his dictionary as:
“A commonwealth; a state in which the exercise of the sovereign power is lodged in representatives elected by the people. In modern usage, it differs from a democracy or democratic state, in which the people exercise the powers of sovereignty in person.”
In order for a nation to be a republic, the people must be able to elect their own representatives. However, recent revelations are showing more and more that We the People don’t actually choose our representatives. That one or more cabals have conspired to “protect” the election from the will of the people. By that they mean choosing who they thought was the better candidate rather than allowing the “unwashed masses” to do so. After the 2016 and 2020 elections I wondered if the American people would stand for such a blatant subversion of self-government. After the 2022 elections, my answer has to be I’m not sure.
As more and more reports, testimony, and evidence of the corruption of the republic comes to light, I’m once again forced to ask, we We the People stand by while the republic is torn down and replace with a corrupt oligarchy? As Daniel Webster once said:

Who is in charge of your children? That has been a perennial question that has grown in importance over the last few years. When I was a child, it was understood that, with rare exceptions, parents were in charge of a child’s upbringing. This included medical, religious, and educational decisions. However, over the last few decades, the role of the parent in these decisions has been replaced by experts. What happens when the goal of the experts differs from those of the parents? Who decides the future of the rising generations? It was understood that the state acted in loco parentis, in place of the parents, only for the safety of the child. A recent case in U.S. District Court shows that be it health departments, child services, schools, or even the courts. Government not only believes they know better than the parents, they are more than willing to act in loco parentis tyrannis.

With the release of ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence (AI) applications, there has been a lot of speculation and downright assertions about our future. Just when you think DOGE has gotten to the bottom of the barrel, they find more barrel. I’d say “If you want to get out of a hole, stop digging.” But I’ve been so happy at all of the waste, fraud, and abuse that’s been discovered. The United States is supposed to be a nation of laws, not of men. However, over the decades, the laws of this nation have been taken over not only by bureaucrats and politicians, but by judges. Judges who, by the way, almost always place the opinions of other judges above the supreme law of the land.
