A wise man once told me I should learn from others mistakes. This past weekend, Hamas attacked Israel, and the news that has been coming out of that conflict has been horrific. Israel had made mistakes. Their intelligence did not warn them about the preparations for the attack. Israel failed to learn from their own history, since this conflict will probably be known as the second Yom Kippur war. While there is a lot Israel can learn from this conflict, there’s a lot the United States can learn as well.
Hamas broke through a walled, but unguarded border. The United States has refused to guard our own border. Many of the enemies of Israel are also enemies of our rights and freedoms, and live right here in the United States. While the news is not all bad, if we are not careful, the very freedoms we use to protect ourselves from an attack like the one Hamas pulled will be handed over to the very people trying to destroy not only our rights, but our very way of life. - Live 4PM ET with Host Paul Engel @CyberEngel

Who is in charge of your children? That has been a perennial question that has grown in importance over the last few years. When I was a child, it was understood that, with rare exceptions, parents were in charge of a child’s upbringing. This included medical, religious, and educational decisions. However, over the last few decades, the role of the parent in these decisions has been replaced by experts. What happens when the goal of the experts differs from those of the parents? Who decides the future of the rising generations? It was understood that the state acted in loco parentis, in place of the parents, only for the safety of the child. A recent case in U.S. District Court shows that be it health departments, child services, schools, or even the courts. Government not only believes they know better than the parents, they are more than willing to act in loco parentis tyrannis.
