In his farewell address, George Washington said:
The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism.
Today we are seeing not only the frightful despotism of political parties, but the destructiveness as well. People say “Politics makes strange bedfellows.” Today however, I think a better saying would be “Lie down with dogs, get up with fleas.” After all, just look at the evil ideas some people have that others are forced to support, simply because they are in the same political party? How many members of the Democratic Party will be covered in the blood and atrocities extolled by members of the “squad”? Where are those denouncing their fellow socialist for their support of raping, torturing, and murdering civilians. Where are members of the media pointing out their fellow “journalists” who support the beheading of babies? Then again, where are the Republicans denouncing the vengeful rhetoric of their members?
Today, I want the American people to look at those who support the attack by Hamas and ask yourself two questions. Who is in charge of your children? That has been a perennial question that has grown in importance over the last few years. When I was a child, it was understood that, with rare exceptions, parents were in charge of a child’s upbringing. This included medical, religious, and educational decisions. However, over the last few decades, the role of the parent in these decisions has been replaced by experts. What happens when the goal of the experts differs from those of the parents? Who decides the future of the rising generations? It was understood that the state acted in loco parentis, in place of the parents, only for the safety of the child. A recent case in U.S. District Court shows that be it health departments, child services, schools, or even the courts. Government not only believes they know better than the parents, they are more than willing to act in loco parentis tyrannis.

With the release of ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence (AI) applications, there has been a lot of speculation and downright assertions about our future. With over 30 years of experience in Information Technology (IT), not more than a passing understanding of AIs, I've come to the conclusion that much of what I've heard is more science fiction than fact. A recent court case decided in the D.C. District Court revolved around one very important question. Do AIs have rights?

When it comes to freedom of speech, there are two things that generate a fair amount of controversy. First is yelling “Fire” in a crowded theater and second is burning the United States flag. Recently, Donald Trump issued an Executive Order about flag burning. So let's take a look at the order and some of the history around flag burning.

I’m not sure if there have been more acts of violence lately, or they’ve just been covered more in the media. What many of these acts have in common may surprise you.
