I started The Constitution Study to help others learn to read and study their Constitution, so they may better know and understand their rights. It is where people can gather online to study together, discuss events, and help each other work to return our nation to the Constitutional Republic is was meant to be.

Bumping Into the Law

When does a rifle become a machine gun? That is the question asked in the Supreme Court case Garland v. Cargill. When the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives suddenly decided to redefine bump stocks as machine guns, many Americans simply complied. However, when Michael Cargill surrendered his bump stocks to the ATF, he did so under protest, filing suit to challenge the rule under the Administrative Procedure Act. Those of us who enjoy and exercise our right to keep and bear arms owe Mr. Cargill a debt of gratitude, but the fight is not over. Thanks to Mr. Cargill’s determination and persistence, the ATF’s bump stock rule has been found to have not been created correctly, meaning we get our bump stocks back. However, it also leaves open the chance for Congress to do what the ATF could not, violate the Second Amendment one more time.

In Loco Parentis, Tyrannis!

Who is in charge of your children? That has been a perennial question that has grown in importance over the last few years. When I was a child, it was understood that, with rare exceptions, parents were in charge of a child’s upbringing. This included medical, religious, and educational decisions. However, over the last few decades, the role of the parent in these decisions has been replaced by experts. What happens when the goal of the experts differs from those of the parents? Who decides the future of the rising generations? It was understood that the state acted in loco parentis, in place of the parents, only for the safety of the child. A recent case in U.S. District Court shows that be it health departments, child services, schools, or even the courts. Government not only believes they know better than the parents, they are more than willing to act in loco parentis tyrannis.

385 - Do Artificial Intelligences Have Rights?

With the release of ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence (AI) applications, there has been a lot of speculation and downright assertions about our future. With over 30 years of experience in Information Technology (IT), not more than a passing understanding of AIs, I've come to the conclusion that much of what I've heard is more science fiction than fact. A recent court case decided in the D.C. District Court revolved around one very important question. Do AIs have rights?

The Role of the Federal Courts

In this third installment of the three-part series on the branches of government, we look at the role of the third and weakest branch. At least that is what our Founding Fathers thought of it. What is the role of the federal judiciary? What are the extent of their powers, how do they related to the other two branches of government, and why is a proper understanding of the role of the judiciary critical if the United States is to remain a constitutional republic?

Dodging Bullets

Sometimes, something happens and you know immediately that it was a close call. For example, double-checking before you proceed from a stop sign and see someone barreling down the street that would have hit you, or when you find out just a few weeks before an election that there are names on your voter rolls that cannot legally vote. Other times you only realize how close you came to disaster in hind-sight. Like when you find out years later that two nominees for President of the United States want to criminalize free speech, or you find out a century later that your education system was taken over by those who hate the United States and its Constitution. As we look at some examples of dodging bullets, we should look at those running for office and ask if they’re locked and loaded to destroy our rights? - Live 4PM ET with Host Paul Engel @CyberEngel @OutLoudNews

Just one more lie to make you sick

COVID brought an inconvenient fact out into the open, the United States public health bureaucracy cannot be trusted to keep you healthy. Granted, the United States isn’t even authorized to regulate public health, but how long has it been since a simple thing like the Constitution got in the way of the federal government doing what it wants? As news breaks about the most recent failure of a federal agency, many are asking why our regulatory system is failing us. Perhaps it is because it was never designed to protect our health in the first place. After all, who do you trust with your health, a nameless bureaucrat or your own two eyes? - Live 4PM ET with Host Paul Engel @CyberEngel @OutLoudNews

Let them eat cake

It is said that when Marie Antoinette heard about the plight of the poor, she said “Let them eat cake.” I don’t know if that is true or not, but it does describe how those in government react to the abuses they inflict on the American people.

Want to vote for someone other than the candidates from the two largest political parties? Let them eat cake. Are you a target of a weaponize federal law enforcement? Just go eat cake. Complain about the illegal actions take by those in government? They have a terrible cake for you to eat, and you better enjoy it or else.

Those in government better hope the American people treat their tyrants better than the French treated Ms. Antoinette. - Live 4PM ET with Host Paul Engel @CyberEngel @OutLoudNews
